It seems as though this NYE, Orange County is truly the place to be. As the EDM movement has completely taken over So Cal, Orange County is becoming the new hot spot for EDM. With so many restrictions in LA, many festivals see the opportunity there is in Orange County. Many new clubs opened in 2011 and delivered strong. The Yost Theater is celebrating it’s 100th birthday this NYE with special guest Benny Benassi with a hosted bar the first 100 minutes of the evening. Although it is just as old as Old Towne Orange down the street, this historic building has renovated itself to be the new EDM hotspot. peace.love.EDM has teamed up with Page Productions, one of the biggest promoting groups in OC to deliver DISCOUNTED tickets to this epic event. X Nightclub is also rather new The Observatory in Santa Ana is billed to have an UNBELIEVABLE NYE lineup, with ATB and Manufactured Superstars NYE and to ring in the new year right with the Godfather himself Tiesto with his opening act of Porter Robinson. It’s not the first time these two have played for each other, so you know with the intimate setting of X, it is going to be one hell of a night. Sutra, is one of the longest running EDM clubs in the OC, providing an intimate setting with any DJ that comes in.

Now enough of the clubs, let’s talk about the big boys in OC this NYE. Together as One has moved from LA to Oak Canyon Ridge in Silverado, CA in literally the middle of no where. Having gone to this venue before, it is set up like a little Coachella as you are surrounded by a beautiful landscape as the stages are set up along the lake. After an unsuccessful and controversial Monster Massive, Go Ventures! MUST step up their game.Together as One has some major competition all of the sudden a few miles down the road. There is no doubt that Katella in Anahiem will be the Happiest Street on Earth. With the magic of Disneyland across the street, Insomniac is bringing the Sensation tradition to the states by delivering their very first White Wonderland. This 2-day event is bringing in Insomniac’s favorite friends to ring in the new year. After Insomniac bought out GIANT’s Big Time show that was set to be at The Shrine with Dada Life and Benny Benassi, people have been rather upset because it went from 18+ to 21+. This event has the strict dresscode of MUST WEAR WHITE, but don’t you worry you kandi kids, you can bring in kandi as long as it is predominately white! Literally a few blocks down the road from White Wonderland is ANOTHER show, Drop NYE at The Grove in Anaheim, right next door to Angels Stadium. Expect an intimate night as there is a capacity for 2000 people for a Dutch-filled evening. Bart B More, R3hab, and Nicky Romero are the strong dutch headliners, but there is no way we can forget Peace Treaty and Mr. White, and with a lineup like this, Drop is bound to be epic.

Now located at The Observatory in Santa Ana, the change of venue from X Nightclub to The Observatory perfectly suits the hype surrounding this event. Buzz about this event has been so massive, who knows how often shows will be at The Observatory in 2012 that can pan up to this XL NYE event. Everyone knows that EDM has strong roots in NorCal and The Bay, so there is no doubt that there will be epic shows going on. Ruby Skye, one of San Francisco’s best venues will be bringing you shows throughout the weekend with Nero, Wolfgang Gartner, and Cedric Gervais for an intimiate evening. New Years Day, expect an unbelievable show as Fedde le Grand will be performing at Ruby Skye as part of his North American Takeover with 2012′s up and coming DJ Deniz Koyu.
Two festivals in particular makes us wish we could teleport from SoCal to NorCal, Countdown and SnowGlobe. Countdown is billed as “NorCal’s Largest NYE Massive Music Festival” with 3 buildings strong, expecting crowds of 15,000 people. Although SnowGlobe is technically at Lake Tahoe in Nevada, shuttlebuses from NorCal will be providing transportation for this epic 3-day festival.

Now although we often don’t talk about the other major cities, you cannot be an EDM junkie like us and not talk about the shows going on in Dallas and NYC. Let’s start with the south. Dallas is delivering an UNBELIEVABLE 2-day event entitled Lights All Night and the bill for this one is truly MASSIVE. Set at the Dallas Convention Center, the phrase “everything is bigger in Texas” is SO TRUE as Tiesto, Benny Benassi, Dada Life, Wolfgang Gartner, Crizzly, Porter Robinson, Diplo, and Excision just to name a few, will be raging face over the two days.
On the other side of the country is one of the hottest tickets out there this NYE. When news broke that Avicii will be performing in NYC on NYE, tickets were selling faster than you can sing-a-long to the jingle of Levels. With Cazzette opening for Avicii at Pier 94 tickets are just about sold out. Down the way is a familiar DJ that will deliver an unbelievable set. With breathtaking views of the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges and the Statue of Liberty, Deadmau5 will be performing his Unhooked set at Pier 36 for the most perfect view of NYC, ideal for any NYE.
